On August 26, 2021, the Government of India’s Ministry of Labour and Employment unveiled the e-Shram platform. Many different types of employees, such as migrant and construction workers as well as domestic helpers (like street sellers and wait staff), beauticians, handicraftsmen (like fisherfolk), and agricultural workers (like farmers), will be able to use the e-Shram portal for free and self-registration.

Do you know what e-SHRAM is?
Workers will be given an, which will allow them to register on the e-SHRAM site, by the government. In order for workers to benefit from the different social security programmes, they will be given an e-SHRAM card that has a unique Universal Account Number (UAN). In the e-SHRAM card, there is a 12-digit UAN number that may be used everywhere in the nation.
